    Every morning, check the wheels, exhaust vents, adjust tables, and guarding. Grinds fins and gates from castings/fittings and operates a stationary grinder to grinder to grind a variety of castings to meet required specifications.



    1. Operates a stationary grinder to remove fins, knots, blemishes and parting lines from a variety of castings.
    2. Visually inspects castings for defects and by-passes inferior castings such as slag, sand holes, short and cold pours, breaks or cracks. On SV fittings check inside hub for scabs, core cracks and globs.

    1. Check stone
    2. Check stone guard (1/4)
    1. Check stone table (1/8)
    2. Check side guards.

    Grinding Procedures

    1. Fittings are selected randomly from the grinding carousel.
    2. Inspect and grind fittings
    3. After casting is ground toss the fitting to the other side of carousel, then the inspector will toss the fitting inside the paint drum.
    4. Required to grind a set quantity amount per hour for approximately 9 hours a day.
    1. Keeps work area clean, orderly and safe always.
    2. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
    3. Put scrap on the designated scrap tub
    4. Do not over grind
    5. Know when to grind and not to grind



  1. Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
  2. Must wear proper PPE, such as, face shield, earplugs, goggles, hard-hat, gloves, apron, and meta tarsal boots.
  3. Must be able to follow instructions from supervisor
  4. Requires considerable knowledge of proper grinding, chipping, and inspection procedures.
  5. Responsible only for own work.
