    Entry Level/Will train                                   $17.00 per hour

    Responsibilities

    TITLE:                    Slurry Maker

    DEPARTMENT:  Pipe

    PLANT:                 AB&I Foundry

    REPORTS TO:     Pipe Supervisor

     

    GENERAL FUNCTION

     

    DUTIES

     

      1. Wash out tank using water hose. Note: it is very important to clean tank thoroughly before making every new batch of pre-mix
      2. Using a water gauge, fill cleaned tank with water.
      3. Turn on the mixer by setting timer located on the main electrical panel
      4. With the mixer on, slowly add National Bentonite (Aqua-gel) material into the water
      5. Set timer for one hour. Mixer should shut off automatically after 1 hour.
      6. Let pre-mix sit in the tank overnight. Every effort should be made to let sit overnight but if production requires using pre-mix sooner, let it sit for at least 2 hours.
      7. Start the mixer
      8. Slowly add Minex 4 to the pre-mix as follows:
      9. Mix it for 1 hour. After all bags are in, set the timer for mixer to stop automatically when time passes.
      10. Every effort should be made to let it set overnight but if production requires immediate use proceed with next step.
    • Important: Do not over mix. Over mixing is detrimental to the quality of slurry.

     

      1. Check the slurry Baume, should read 55 – 60. If Baume is lower than 55 – 60, slurry is thinner than required. Add more Minex.
      2. If Baume is higher than 60, slurry is thicker than required, add more water.
      3. Let mix 10 more mins. Recheck Baume. Once Baume is 55 – 60 add soap as needed.
      4. Weigh foam add soap
      5. Mix it for 10 mins by setting timer at exactly 10 mins maximum.
    • Important: Over mixing is detrimental to the quality of slurry.

     

      1. Check Baume. Should read 50 – 60. If not, notify supervisor or leadman immediately.
      2. Fill in quality of slurry form.REQUIREMENTS
      3. Must wear proper PPE such as, goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, face shield, and metal tarsal boots
      4. Ability to do multiple jobs and flexibility to do multiple jobs
      5. Ability to learn the technical aspects of Slurry Making
      6. Technical aptitude.
      7. Strong communication skills.
      8. Ability to achieve production and quality goals.
      9. Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures.
      10. Demonstrated ability to work hard intelligently.
      11. Demonstrated ability to follow directions as well as to make appropriate decisions.
      12. Proven ability to work independently.
      13. Proven track record of excellent attendance, dependability and flexibility.
      14. Proven ability to learn and to work aggressively in an efficient and effective manner.
      15. Ability to speak and read English
      16. Must be able to follow instruction from supervisor.
      17. Must be able to work from instructions given by supervisor or lead person
      18. Must be able to plan and perform a sequence of operations where standard or recognized methods are available
      19. Careless operation of machine may cause lost-time accidents to others, such as crushed fingers, hands, eye injuries from flying particles.
      20. Responsible for own work only.
